Carl Fudge is a psychologist, MBA, and designer who uses his diverse skillset to build new products and businesses as an independent consultant.
Prior to starting his own consulting practice, Carl served on the Leadership team of a high-growth series A tech startup as Head of Strategy. While there, he helped conceptualize, build, and launch an innovative new financial product that incentivized people to live healthier lives.
Before entering the startup world, Carl was Executive Director of Business Design at world-renowned design firm, IDEO. While there, Carl led teams working to incubate new products and ventures and created enormous value for clients who were looking to launch the next big thing.
That often meant taking a human-centered approach to building busineses from scratch—understanding consumers, sketching ideas, prototyping them with customers, and launching new products into the world.
At IDEO, Carl helped redesign a public school lunch system to be student-centered and financially sustainable, incubated a food waste startup, and led several venture projects in the financial services space.
During a year-long engagement, he worked with a traditional life insurance client to build an impact investing platform for young people, taking it from a paper prototype to a fully built digital platform, brand, and revenue-generating business.
Despite his long history in design, Carl is not your typical “creative.” For Carl, imagining new business possibilities and driving them to fruition is how he expresses himself to the world.
Carl joined IDEO shortly after getting his MBA at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. Previously, he served as a business analyst at McKinsey & Company, and a director at an innovation think tank. He also holds an MA in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and a BS in Psychology from University College London.
